Anterior Crowns Parker, CO
Your teeth are an incredibly important feature of your mouth, performing a variety of different essential tasks. They help you to bite, chew, and speak. They play an important role in the quality of your smile and the impressions that you leave. When your teeth are damaged or decayed, treatment is needed right away to preserve your teeth, preventing further damage and restoring their strength. If your anterior teeth, or the teeth at the front of your mouth, are damaged, your restorations need to also help improve the quality of your smile. At Parker Dental Implant and Specialty Center, we can treat all types of damaged teeth at the front of your mouth with anterior crowns.
More about types of Crowns:

Why Do Damaged Teeth Need to Be Treated?
Teeth can become damaged for many reasons. They can chip, crack, or break as a result of a fall, sports injury, or other accident. You may bite down on something too hard. Tooth decay can destroy the structure of the affected tooth. While minor damage may only cause aesthetic issues that can easily be remedied with a cosmetic solution, more significant damage can weaken the tooth. It becomes more susceptible to further damage, including splitting or shattering. Bacteria can also get into the inner layers of the affected tooth, leading to a serious and painful infection.
What Is a Crown?
A crown is commonly used as a restoration that restores a damaged tooth from anywhere in your mouth. With a crown, you get a tooth-shaped cap that is made to fit over the whole visible area of your damaged tooth. It encases the entire tooth, protecting it from further damage and potential infections. The crown also helps to restore the strength of the tooth so that it can continue to function normally.
Anterior Crowns
When your front teeth are damaged, not only are their functions affected but so too is the quality of your smile. An anterior crown is one that is made to treat a damaged or decayed tooth at the front of your mouth. These crowns are made from ceramic. In addition to protecting the damaged tooth, an anterior crown also functions to improve the quality of your smile. Ceramic not only matches the color of your natural teeth, but it also reflects light just like your natural teeth. We can match the ceramic to the exact shade of your natural teeth to provide a completely natural restoration to your smile.
Getting Your Anterior Crown
The process of placing an anterior crown requires two appointments. During your first appointment, the surface of your damaged tooth is prepared. To do this, we must remove a portion of your tooth enamel to make the tooth smaller. This helps to ensure that your crown will fit in perfectly with the rest of your teeth. After preparing the tooth, we take an impression of the teeth in your mouth. This impression is sent off to the dental lab we use to create our appliances, and they design and create your final anterior crown.
It can take up to two weeks for your final crown to be completed. While you wait, a temporary crown is placed over the damaged tooth. This crown functions to provide your tooth with some protection until your final crown is ready. Once finished, the crown is checked for fit, bite, and appearance. Finally, it is bonded to the tooth, restoring the functions of that tooth and improving the quality of your smile.
If your front teeth have been affected by damage, an anterior crown can help to improve their health, strength, and appearance. For more information, call Parker Dental Implant and Specialty Center at (720) 522-2000 today.
